A tragic incident occurred in the Malaysian city of Sibu in Sarawak on Tuesday (Feb 10) afternoon, resulting in the death of a 60-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a pickup truck. The man, identified as Lee Teck Kee in media reports, was fatally injured after a cement mixer truck overturned onto his vehicle.
Upon receiving a distress call at 12.18pm, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department promptly dispatched eight rescuers to the scene. Unfortunately, Lee had already lost consciousness and was trapped inside the pickup truck.
Efforts to rescue Lee were hindered by the weight and position of the cement truck. The Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson mentioned to the New Straits Times that initial attempts to extricate the victim using airbags proved futile.
Photographs shared online depict the devastating scene where the concrete mixer drum had crushed the driver's side of the vehicle. The rescue operation required the use of two cranes to lift the heavy cement truck.
Tragically, Lee Teck Kee was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
